Calling All Americans
Two bills before Congress, known as the Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House, would censor the Web and impose harmful regulations on American business. Millions of Internet users and entrepreneurs already oppose SOPA and PIPA.
The Senate will begin voting on January 24th. Please let them know how you feel. Sign this petition urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA before it is too late.
https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/
This is a real website with NO VIRUSES. Please vote to stop these bills.
How would SOPA/PIPA impact Gunrox players?
•Kills streaming. If any single streamer plays copyrighted music (or alt tabs into a movie or other owned content) on their stream, there is a significant risk of the entire streaming service being taken down. In some cases, it could even result in criminal penalties for the streamer.
•Threatens independent content creation. Services we all use to create and share Gunrox related content, such as YouTube and more would be at risk of shutting down or greatly restricting the scope of legitimate content allowed on their sites.
•Attacks our community. Aspects of our community such as the forums and potentially even in-game chat, could be taken down or have their features reduced based on user behavior.
•Other harmful effects. SOPA/PIPA undermine established intellectual property legislation like the DMCA, raise serious constitutional free speech issues, and could even compromise the basic security infrastructure of the internet.

so we need to sign this petition so you can continue illegal downloads???? or not.
See it like this, iff you keep on downloading movies, games, music, ect ect the companies how made that will stop producing it or will go bankrupt because you dont wanne pay for the product they made!!!!!
The PIPA and SOPA are only against illegal downloads, they will not shut down gunrox iff you put a movie on youtube off it.

We have the same thing going on here, the authorities here want the same thing as the PIPA and SOPA but here they just tell the truth and that its only to stop illegal downloads. (check everything around Pirratebay and you see)
here my opinion, hope you can life with it, 😁

Thanks for you opinion Wytex, but just like every bill that any government wants to establish, there are 2 sides. I agree that you should not illegally download etc, but if I want to video my game on Gunrox and put it on YouTube, this will also be seen as copy-rite (because I have stolen an image from Gunrox to put on YouTube).
This is the side that will make referral programs more legalistic.

In german there is a proverb: "Wo kein Kläger, da kein Richter!" It means: "no judge without a plaintiff"
Your example with videos of gunrox on youtube.
Im sure enkord is agree with videos of gunrox and so the open the copyright. But if you use the images of gunrox for a own game it looks really different.
Thats also the problem with backgroundmusic of videos. If you don't have the right to use a song in a video its forbitten because you stole this song for improvement of your stuff and everybody could encode just the song and use it.
The problem and the most official protest of PIPA and SOPA are not because of the fact you can't download illegal music, videos or games anymore.
The protest is based on nonspecific rules and different easy ways for abuse of the new laws. Its possible to indict somebody without a real reason and so you can cut his whole website, you can cut relationship to payment-providers, search engine and so on. With other words if you don't like a online-company you indict them and so you stop the base of their income just for fun. Maybe the company is innocent and after proceedings can open webside etc. again but maybe they are bankrupt before. A easy way to fight against competitive enterprises and im sure many in US will use this option.
And thats just 1 example of the problems around PIPA and SOPA.
The idea is to stop online piracy (thats good and needed) but the effect will be a other (and thats the bad point on it)

you know im not from America Cup, but still i wanne talk about it 😁
A question?
lets say PIPA and SOPA will shut down every website wich host, show or redirect to material that they dont have the copyright to,... then sites like youtube, google, wikipedia ect ect. are also against the rules, or not?
I agree to the fact that our privacy and freedom at the web is going down iff they get this law working.

Yes google, youtube etc, all are having blackout days on their websites. Many big websites are also blacking out. Many American based gaming companies and also those that use servers in the USA are also asking their players to vote.
As I said before, the PIPA/SOPA is not completely wrong, but they have not taken into consideration the impact this could have on the internet here in the USA.

Here in Australia, we have a saying: "its like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut." (note the subliminal reference to my account nutcracker... Genius!) This kind of over-reaction to solve the problem of internet piracy will do more harm than good.
I am not sure how your legislation works there but if this was put to a referendum then the people would vote this down without a doubt, REPEAT - WITHOUT A DOUBT. You would have to amend the age old adage on certainties in life: you have "Death", "Taxes" and the "NO vote against PIPA/SOPA".
Having said that, however, I feel you will have a 60-40 chance that this bill might pass. The ordinary everyday person can sign petitions all they want but the big corporations which have a lot to lose WILL bribe / blackmail these lawmakers to get the bill to pass - the same kind of blackmail and bribery that allegedly goes on in Gunrox with fame games.
My opinion is that they should find another solution. There is more than one way to skin a cat and from what I have heard this seems like the first serious bill they have come up with to solve internet piracy. Surely there are other possibilities out there. (Sorry Cupcake, I know how you love cats. That visual analogy of skinning a cat was uncalled for and should be retracted..... but I won't, I like the notoriety)
After seeing CD single prices as high as AUS$25 before widespread rampant internet piracy and seeing them now at around AUS$5.00, I think passing this bill will see us here in OZ go back to the unbelievable price gouging of music cds / dvds. We don't want that.
We voted down the idea of an Internet Filter here in OZ. The idea was raised to block child pornography images over the internet but it would require ISPs to seriously slow down the network to the point where we would be on dial up speed to filter all content. Almost everyone was against that, even though it would stop the vile images. The public didn't want their internet to be slowed down (90% of the reasons people gave on talkback radio were saying they didn't want their illegal downloads to slow down - honest to the point of embarassing!) and businesses didn't want a slow internet because they couldn't make profits and that is what stopped that idea in its tracks.
In conclusion, my gut feeling is that the bill will be passed. The bottom line is that greed overrides ethics and the US treasury have more to gain by taxing record companies / artists that maximise their profits. That is what the US treasury needs right now after their GFC (global financial crisis). There seems to be more solid reasons to pass this bill than to oppose it I am afraid.
If you are still awake after reading this then you have a better attention span than meeeee...zzzzzzzzzzz

After thinking about it a lot more, I realize now that this bill is simply Silicon Valley vs Hollywood. Last time I checked, Silicon Valley had more money and they will not let this Bill even see the light of day.
I think we can all sleep easy and still be assured that we can still get our illegal downloads forever.

Even me being company owner that have it's games pirated all over the internet (not GUNROX, but other downloadable games), I still think this bill is extremely stupid and sounds like it was made in USSR, not in the USA.
They shelved it for now anyway, so congrats.
