Best (free) Anti-Virus Software?
I've yet to go out and buy (and research) some good anti-virus software programs, but for now I'm going to install a free one from the Microsoft website. I just installed Avast! but may uninstall it depending on how it works. Anyone have some suggestions? I'm of course talking about free programs. Any advice will be taken. 😉
Edit: Any good web-surfing security software add-ones anybody knows of for Firefox? (I surf a lot online, so never know when I'm going to click on an affected site)

I'm using Avast! (free version) Anti-Virus
MalwareBytes (Malware removal)
SpyBot - Search & Destroy (spyware detection/removal)
Next, I might install a firewall because Windows Firewall is... yeah.
Avast detected 3 infected files. (deleted)
MalwareBytes detected 50 malware infected files (with ROGUE spyware). (deleted)
I'm going to install another anti-virus and see what comes up but I will turn off one as running two of them at the same time could cause hard-drive damage I've read.
So far this is what I've looked at that's best if you want to spend money:
ESET
Kaspersky
McAfee
VIPRE (relative has this, works good)
Panda Pro
So far I think either ESET or Kaspersky is the best bet.

the avast Problem is that although it detects many viruses, it can not remove,
I used Avast for a long time, and have serious problems with my computer, such as loss of files.

AIDL:
After 30 days of using AVAST u need to register it. But don't worry - its free.
Henio:
Avast is very good but u need to configure it properly. There's many FAQ's about that.

ESET yes but kaspersky takes a lot of your pc's memory, so don't be surprised if your pc works very slowly. ESET however slows down your pc just at the start when updating.
Best for me is ESET, i have never had any problems with worms or viruses.

Just found an awesome Firefox browser add-on! It's called Dr.Web anti-virus link checker. You right-click a website link on Google, and "Scan with Dr.Web" will be an option. You click it, and it scans the site for viruses. No clue if it works with Internet Explorer.
Link for download: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/drweb-anti-virus-link-checker/
