There needs to be mastery perks for these two weapon classes, also energy weapons will need mastery perks when they are made. Machine Guns are heavy, can only shoot once and are not very reliable damage. On the other hand they do have a VERY wide firing arc. So the two perks should reflect this. Rockets were recently nerfed and as it stands with the rarity and and scarcity of grenade ammo, neither machine guns or rockets are a good choice for non-cash shop users and even for cash shop users there are better options. Mastery perks for these two weapons are required!

Not really. Machine gun is actually quite reliable, as long as you don't a;ways shoot 16 squares away.
The whole point of them is that the are a strategic choice, as they free perks for other things. That said, none of them are invincible, and the milkors/rg are indeed very expensive to operate.

You say they "free perks" for other things but you could say get an assault rifle and just not get the mastery skill that also "frees perks for other things". It should be an option available to the MG and Rockets too. If anything the rockets and MG WASTE 3 perks by forcing you to get the perquisites and the unlock perk.
Even if it is just the option to get "Dr.Minigun" or whatever it is called multiple times and unlock at least one special perk.

Let me try again: by "freeing perks", I mean you get massive fire power for only 3/4 perks. Basically, that would be like having full assualt skill+maxed mastery.
Basically, all having mastery for them would do is make getting tier 2/3 machine guns/rockets sooner. How is that helpful? Since most people who use them are shoppers anyway(at least the rockets) that would mean they would be even more powerful sooner.

If my sources are correct, there ARE mastery perks for these weapons! The only rub here is that they're a LONG ways out... say level 40 till they show up in the list.
